What is AEBS and why do I need it?
AEBS stands for Advanced Emergency Braking System; a semi-automatic brake system designed to prevent collisions or limit their consequences. Read on to find out how it works.
How does AEBS work?
A radar signal at the front of the truck continuously measures whether there is sufficient space. If the distance limit is exceeded, the system initially issues a warning signal. If the driver fails to respond to the signal, AEBS takes over. The truck will slow down as much as possible to avoid a collision or minimise any impact. Watch the video for more information.
Using AEBS safely
Please note that AEBS should not be seen as a handy way for the truck driver to make sure that they are maintaining an adequate distance — it goes without saying that it is still essential for drivers to give their full attention to controlling the truck. Drivers also need to be able to estimate a safe driving distance from other road users. AEBS is an emergency braking system that may make a difference in critical situations.
