Uncoupling a truck trailer
Uncoupling a trailer or semi-trailer must be done meticulously. In this instructional video, we show you how to do this in a safe and efficient way.
Step 1: Find a flat surface
Park the truck on a flat and firm surface and ensure that the brake is applied on the trailer. Ensure that the trailer cannot roll.
Step 2: Pull down the support legs
Using the quick control, pull down the support legs on the trailer until they reach the ground. Do not lift the trailer from the fifth wheel yet.
Step 3: Disconnect the cables and lights
Disconnect the brake lines, lighting cables and ABS/EBS. Also undo any safety hooks or padlocks.

Step 4: Release the fifth wheel handle
Pull the handle on the fifth wheel outwards to unlock it. The claw is now open and ready for the trailer to be uncoupled.
Step 5: Disconnect the truck from the trailer
Slowly drive the truck out from under the trailer.
Step 6: Set normal driving height
After coupling or uncoupling a trailer, always press the normal driving height switch to automatically return to the correct driving height.
