Avoiding costs
Additional repairs to your truck are never a good thing. Not only do they cost more, they also mean that your truck is out of action unnecessarily. There is a way to avoid this, however: with preventive maintenance.
How can I avoid truck costs?
The majority of all unplanned truck standstills can be avoided with preventive maintenance. Making predictions and assessing the risks properly can minimise the chance of unnecessary standstills, saving both time and money.
Recognise the signs
Avoiding additional costs involves identifying issues early on: a flat battery on repeat occasions, a failing heater or that warning that keeps appearing on the dashboard - all of the above can eventually lead to breakdowns.
Periodic maintenance
The most effective way to prevent these situations is to have maintenance performed on a periodical basis. With a DAF maintenance contract, maintenance inspections will not only cover matters arisen at that time, but will also predict the likelihood of any future problems.
Replace parts preventively
Respond to the signals at an early stage. For example, if a battery usually lasts around three years, consider replacing it after two and a half. Whilst this may feel like an unnecessary cost at the time, it works out far less costly than being out of action for half a day or a day.
A summary of the benefits
Preventive maintenance ensures:
- Less downtime and thus less expense
- Optimum truck condition
- Better cost management
